This is the account of Jim Perrin and his battle with bladder cancer, the results of various traditional treatments, the success of an alternative treatment, and how he came out ahead.

In June 2004 I was diagnosed by a V. A. (Veterans Hospital) doctor in Nashville, TN with aggressive bladder cancer.  Not being pleased with the V.A. system, I tried to transfer to civilian health care, but two doctors sent me back to the V.A.   In December 2004 I was told by the V.A. physician that without radical surgery I had only one year to live.  I went in for surgery December 14, 2004 at the V.A. hospital but the doctor became sick that morning and they sent me home.  I never went back for the surgery, but ate an organic vegan diet for fourteen months.  Today I still eat a healthy and mostly vegetarian diet.

During this time I had come into contact with Dr. Jerry Thonthwaite who is the director of the Cancer Research Institute of West Tennessee.  The Research Institute encompasses several areas of study one of which is the role antioxidants play in prevention and treatment of cancer.  Through this connection we came into the knowledge of an alternative cancer treatment that centers around anti-angiogenesis* and antioxidation.   This treatment involved finding a doctor who would prescribe Tetrathiomolybdate (an angiogenesis inhibitor).  This would be a problem.  I could find no doctor to prescribe Tetrathiomolybdate because it was not the FDA approved method for treating cancer.  (Click here to learn more about anti-angiogenesis and inhibitors at www.cancerprotocol.com).

In September 2005 I wound up in the hospital in Jackson, TN with my bladder filled with cancer which caused one of my kidneys to shut down.  I was finally in the private sector and was referred to a urology oncologist at Vanderbilt in Nashville.  Although I asked him to administer the angiogenesis inhibiting treatment, he refused and instead began radical chemotherapy.  (I still suffer with neuropathy from this chemotherapy).

On May 10, 2006 this urology oncologist performed surgery.  Despite the chemotherapy my cancer had gotten much worse, spreading beyond the bladder wall and pressing against my pubic bone and rectum.   The physician just sewed me back up offering the family no hope, personally telling my wife that I would die with this, and mentioning  “two months to live” to my daughter.   His opinion was that if I lived very much longer the tumors would spread into the colon and intestine.  He said that at that time he could perform a colostomy, but it would be only to relieve pain and not to alleviate the disease.

That same month, May 2006, I located a physician who agreed to prescribe the Tetrathiomolybdate (TM) needed for the angiogenesis inhibiting treatment.  In October 2006 after six months of taking TM and following the supplement regimen recommended by Dr Thornthwaite, a CAT scan revealed all tumors had decreased except one in the groin area.  The same Vanderbilt urology oncologist, who had given me no hope, after viewing this CAT scan at my six-month check-up in November 2006, told me I had beaten the odds.

At some point after this the pharmacist made a mistake in compounding the TM. It was at least three months before this mistake was detected and during this time I received no benefit from the wrong compound.  The cancer in my groin area began pressing against my pubic bone, causing pain, so I had radiation administered in this one area this year in February.  The CAT scan, taken a month following the radiation in March, revealed no change in the tumor; yet the pain was gone.  All tumors showed no new growth.

In June I had another CAT scan showing stable results.  My latest CAT scan on September 24, 2007 revealed all tumors have continued to remain stable with the area near the groin showing shrinkage from 8.2 centimeters to 4 centimeters.

Without this treatment, plus my faith in God, I have no doubt that I would not be alive today much less feeling so well.  My mind has become clearer.  My energy level and strength have increased.   Even the neuropathy caused by chemotherapy has subsided and the feeling is returning to my legs.    For the first time in almost two years I am driving again.  I am leading a very productive life and have no pain.

Something more

During the course of all of this (September 2006) a man called about ordering Perrin's Blend and talked to my wife Judy.  During their conversation about alternative health methods he learned of my aliment and told her about a machine that is used to bring chemical and electrical frequencies of the body into harmony and therefore fight disease.  He had gotten one for his mother-in-law who was confined to bed with leukemia.  After talking for awhile I agreed incorporate this treatment.  His mother-in-law now well enough to travel, accompanied  by her husband, actually brought me the machine from Colorado.  The couple just gave me the machine along with a new laptop computer used to operate it.   Since receiving this machine I have been very diligent in giving myself daily treatments for cancer and neuropathy.

A Note From Judy Perrin

"GOD IS SO GOOD.  He led us to the treatments Jim is getting by miraculous means, but it was after prayer of our Sunday school teacher, Jerry Buchanan, in February that Jim reached a turning point with no more pain and his strength immediately returned.  Since the day of that prayer Jim has needed no pain medication at all.   Some friends and family members have told us that before that point they were saying, "We probably won't have Jim around much longer."  Now they just smile and shake their heads."

*Tumors cells need a rich blood supply in order to grow and metastasize. Angiogenesis (Angio-blood, genesis-creation) is the process by which new blood vessels, called capillaries are formed. Capillaries are lined with endothelial cells.

Normal angiogenesis occurs under very tight physiological regulation when stimulators and inhibitors work in balance with each other. Normally the proliferation rate of endothelial cells is very low, with turnover times for these cells exceeding 1000 days.

Exceptions occur in which the angiogenesis process takes approximately 5-8 days. This is seen in wound healing, embryonic development, the monthly growth of the uterine lining in menstruation women, and also in cancer.
